Our story began in 2004, when we arrived in Shangrila as the first group of English‑speaking tour guides in the region. Over the past 20 years, we’ve seen the area evolve while strengthening our own ties with its people and environment. Our love for the outdoors naturally developed into a broad range of specialties, including trekking, cultural travel, photography, and botany enriched by collaboration with scientists, naturalists, and local experts.
At the heart of our team are Tsebho and Gonpo Tserang, both originally from Amdo (Aba) in Western Sichuan, a traditional nomadic region where life remains deeply connected to nature. After settling in Northwest Yunnan ( Shangrila ), we expanded our expertise in guiding, plant identification, and travel photography while exploring the remarkable biodiversity of this high‑mountain region.
Today, Shangrila Outdoorsman is a small, dedicated team committed to sharing the cultural and natural richness of Northwest Yunnan, Western Sichuan, and Southwest Qinghai through thoughtful, educational, and adventure-filled travel experiences.
